About

I am the Group Leader for Research Application Development in the Research Informatics division of Information Sciences at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. I primarily spend my days managing the development and support of Java EE-based applications in support of life sciences research. I have been developing web and desktop-based applications (using languages including Java, Perl, PHP, and Ruby) for St. Jude since 2000. I have experience developing applications using numerous open source technologies including Spring, Hibernate, and iBATIS.

I am also the project manager for and a committer to St. Jude's open source Shared Resource Management system, STJUDE-SRM (http://stjude-srm.sourceforge.net). STJUDE-SRM was designed to support shared resource/core lab activites at biomedical research institutions. It was originally developed to support the laboratories at St. Jude's Hartwell Center for Bioinformatics and Biotechnology, but could be modified to support any number of facilities and/or institutions.

When I'm not working, I primarily spend my time trying to keep four very important girls happy: my sweet wife Wendy and my three daughters Abby, Isabella, and Ali Kate:

On May 16, 2008, we welcomed our first son, Grant, into the world. Finally - somebody who understands me! :-) (Picture forthcoming…)
